Guys, I do not want to get political. But I am seeing people on my flist, people I otherwise like and admire, who are still confusing squicks with triggers, and who still think that warning for sexual violence is a slippery slope to warnings for the misuse of radishes, or garish colours, or descriptions of morris dancing.

Please, please, if you aren't confident that you know the difference between squicks and triggers, go and read this essay by impertinence. It's concise, educational, rational and calm. It's also a hard read, as most mental adjustments worth making are.

(Actually, Morris Dancing sends my husband into instant rage/WILL YOU SHUT UP mode because he has a paper with a deadline on May 1, and the dancers are beneath his window EVERY YEAR. )

In my book, "maintaining artistic integrity" comes several rungs down the ladder from "being a compassionate human being." Warn, ferchrissakes. Sheez.
