Joining the 21st Century
Nov. 16th, 2006 08:36 pmI was determined that my next hobby would be something non-geeky - perhaps even involving leaving my computer alone and seeing, you know, people. Damn you, LJ! I've been sucked in by all the great fic and amusing posts.
Five fun facts about me:
1) I'm a painter and decorator with a psychology degree and a sciencey, academic background - it made sense at the time. I can plaster. And bricklay. Seriously, don't tell any of my old teachers.
2) I live with my best friend C and her boyfriend JJ, and I adore them both - my parents so think we're all doing it. We're not. No matter how much innuendo we exchange.
3) I'm 24, woefully single, and hosting Christmas for 11 people this year.
4) I put an offer in on a house a few days ago. I already have one mortgage, so I'm just being greedy.
5) Yesterday I sort of maybe ish applied to sit an entrance exam for medical school, but the browser crashed and now the deadline has passed, so I actually don't know if it went through or not. My future career is left up to fate. The weird thing? I'm actually okay with that. Guh!
I'm going to go and procrastinate now, and maybe work up to writing some fic to post. This means I'm going to have to type instead of writing long hand - it's a revelation.

I know what you mean about renovations that spiral insanely. When we bought our house, we thought we'd spend 6 weeks decorating it and sprucing it up a bit. In the end, we spent 5 *months* rewiring, replumbing, replastering, damp proofing, ripping out the kitchen and bathroom, taking down two walls... I know what you mean about the mess - there's something utterly depressing about having to put steel soled boots on in the middle of the night just to get from your room to the bathroom.
Your house is 150 years old? Isn't that pretty much as old as they come in the states? That sounds lovely. Last year I replastered my aunt's 400 year old field stone cottage - isn't it fun when there isn't a single right angle anywhere in the entire place...?
Good luck with your renovations, and keep those awesome John/Rodney fics coming!
