Laser Eye Surgery
Jul. 22nd, 2008 11:44 pmOMG!! TOMORROW I AM PAYING SOMEONE TO SHOOT LASERS INTO MY EYES.
I feel sick.
And I may be offline for a few days, depending on the OMG PAIN when eyes are attempting to focus/endure anything besides blessed, pitch darkness. Yes, I could have gone for the pricier option that won't disable me quite so much. Yes, I am too cheap.
Sekrit message to Cath - but if I have any time in the morning, I will be spending it re-reading parts 1 - 3 and emailing you! ♥
ETA: But! This started in my comment to <lj user=villainny>, below, and became a bit of a anti-glasses rant. There are so many things I should stop having to deal with as of tomorrow!
Missing a stair because I switched between looking through vs looking under my glasses at the wrong moment. That gritty, dry feeling I get when I've worn my contacts too much. Rain. Not feeling hideously unattractive whenever I'm not wearing contacts. My entire working life, with the dust and the lense splattering. Lying with my head smooshed into a cushion and being able to see the TV anyway. Reversing the car. Glancing up at someone without needing to move my entire head. Not having to plan my eyesight around social occasions. Snogging. Being able to see when I first wake up.
Ok, I remember why i signed up it now. After the next week, this should be pretty awesome. But tomorrow? Sickywobblypukeyscariness!

Date: 2008-07-22 11:06 pm (UTC)Actually, as I was cooking dinner tonight and the oven steamed up my glasses, I did have a little pang of excitement that it ought not to happen again. Unless I cook wearing my big, ugly, wonderfully dark new £2 shades over the weekend. Which: unlikely.

Date: 2008-07-22 11:10 pm (UTC)I will undoubtedly be after procrastination-style activities tmrw morning, so I'm hopeful I should get to it. And it's been a few days, so I should have at least partially regained my virginity, you know? ♥

Date: 2008-07-22 11:01 pm (UTC)(Think of it as research! Whatever happens to you you can inflict to your character of choice! With another character (or several!) of choice around to bring comfort. Yep. That's my plan for you.)

Date: 2008-07-27 03:43 pm (UTC)lasers should only come *out* of your eyes I totally agree! Didn't Rodney say that in a fic once? It's extremely apt.
It's done, and I'm getting less blind in leaps and bounds. I mean, I only hit CTRL + four or five times before text is legible now. That's practically 20/20! /sarcasm>
But seriously - I've had moments of clarity where my eyesight ROCKS. This was a good thing. \o/

Date: 2008-07-27 03:45 pm (UTC)Recovery is slooooow... but I'm so much better today than I was yesterday. I can see my mouse pointer on screen! What more does a girl need?
