Yeah, Derek and Isaac have such similar abandonment damage in a lot of ways and it makes me sad that Derek isn't supporting Isaac. I feel like it could be a way for him to help himself as well - I'm apparently all about the projection issues with the pack! I don't really know what Boyd represents because we've seen so little of him. I did feel like Derek was quite grounded around Boyd in the episode at the rave. Maybe he's more of an aspirational aspect?
Wow, I have been blithely going with the fanon assumption that there are werewolves aplenty just waiting to come and cause trouble, but what if he really is amongst the last of the species? If the Argents have always moved cities to hunt, then I guess there aren't a lot of wolves in commuting distance. Or, even if they aren't so rare, he's the only one in town and, yes, so isolating! It certainly doesn't seem like he has any elders or authority figures from his old life to turn to for advice or help about wolfy matters. D:
No, I agree, he totally wouldn't be able to accept anyone's help and that's part of the pathology that makes him need the help so badly. I like the idea that he's living out some sort of rewrite of his own late adolescence through Scott. The saddest thing is that he *is* basically a good person and he *does* do altruistic things, but he feels like none of it has any worth. At some point, will he just snap? Or, is that what happened when he was turning teenagers willy nilly?
